[2021-09-16] Free period
Today and tomorrow, Chris and I are volunteering at Ottawa's Fall Festivals, also known as Cityfolk and Bluesfest.
Chris suggested that those few words would be sufficient for tonight's post.
He reminded me how much people liked it when priests had short sermons. One priest, said Chris, told parishioners to go home and be good people. That was all.
Similarly, I recalled one priest whose sermon consisted of a single statement: "The Leafs are playing tonight." (As I recall, the Leafs didn't win, though I could be making that up.)
It was like getting a free period in school when the teacher didn't show up.
