[2021-10-29] Tomorrow is another day

I spent the last hour mulling over what I should write in tonight's post, while my husband watched early episodes of the sitcom Mom on Netflix. We both love the show, and I found myself sneaking peeks at the TV instead of working on my blog post.

As Jeopardy began—a show I make a point to watch with Chris each weeknight—I turned to A Year of Positive Thinking for inspiration. The entry for October 29, entitled "You will get it done when you need to," seemed to speak to my circumstances:

In those moments when you simply cannot move forward, don't try to.

Surrender what you feel like you should do. Temporarily let it go. Today may not be the day for whatever it is to get done. The world will not come crashing down, and tomorrow will still be a new day with wide-open possibilities.

Forcing yourself to do anything when you are not in the right mind-set will only make the situation more daunting. Walk away, surrender, and when you are ready, come back with a clearer understanding and a more productive perspective.

So maybe today was not the day for a brilliant blog post.

It was a day to get up early to accompany Chris to an appointment. It was a day to take my walk in a different community, walking from Centretown to Little Italy to Hintonburg and part way back while Chris was occupied. It was a day to pick up groceries. It was a day to edit a text for a friend. It was a day to make a decadent dessert (Rich Chocolate Chip Toffee Bars). And it was a day to make a pleasing soup (Italian Sausage Soup with Tortellini).

For many things in life, the world won't come crashing down if something we hoped to get done today has to wait for another day. Tomorrow is wide open with possibilities.
