[2022-05-29] Dancing and other quotes

I added another entry to my compendium of quotes tonight: We can't always choose the music life plays for us, but we can choose how we dance to it [author unknown].

The idea that what happens to us in life is less important than how we choose to respond to it is a recurring theme in my blog. While this concept is expressed in many ways—for example, we can't change the cards we're dealt, just how we play them—I was quite taken by the dance analogy. It's such a fantastic visual metaphor.

Some days, I bemoan the music life is playing for me, but most days I dance anyway—with gratitude, with confidence that everything will work out, and with commitment to whatever I can accomplish.

I often reread the quotes I've compiled.
  • They give me strength: Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations [author unknown].
  • They help me to see the positive in my life: Our lives are not determined by what happens to us, but by how we react to what happens, not by what life brings us, but by the attitude we bring to life. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events and outcomes. It is a catalyst, a spark that creates extraordinary results [author unknown].
  • And they help remind me of the person I want to be: When you talk, you are only repeating what you already know. But if you listen, you may learn something new [Dalai Lama].
If you're looking for inspiration, you may wish to peruse the many quotes I've amassed over the past 22 months of writing this blog. I hope that they will bring you peace as they have often brought me.
