[2023-02-17] Mother Nature's random act of kindness
Mel and I went for a walk after supper. We met Lulu and Lola, two beautiful dogs who were a mix of Border Collie and Blue Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog). They were remarkably calm for two dogs who had spent the day patiently waiting for their owners to finish work and take them out for an early evening stroll. The owners were a lovely couple, who obviously adored their dogs and enjoyed sharing them with others.
As we continued our work, Mel and I marveled at how magical it was to be outside as the grey light gave way to an ever-evolving sky, which went from plum to sapphire to indigo.
The air was crisp, but not cold. We were dressed warmly. Mel and I have always found that as long as we're warm and comfortable, being outside in winter is a miraculous and serene experience.
As we emerged from Cattail Creek Park and followed the path to Katimavik Elementary School, a gorgeous scene stretched out in front of us: a clear blue sky, punctuated by two bright stars; one golden light, illuminating a nearby tree; hardwood trees, outlined against the lighter sky; and a snowy toboggan hill, peaceful in its solitude. It was the kind of panorama that begged to be photographed.
Had Mother Nature performed a Random Act of Kindness—seemingly just for us—by creating this display of quiet splendour?
