[2023-04-27] CA125: new number

I got my latest CA125 result today. For the first time in 28 months, it wasn't a 7 or an 8. Instead, it was a 9.

I suspect that my oncologists will not be perturbed and will view the difference between 8 and 9 as statistically insignificant.

I remind myself that a result between 0 and 35 is normal. And I recall what one of my oncologists, Dr. Lee, said to me more than two years ago: your CA125 will fluctuate. He added that he would be concerned only if my CA125 suddenly doubled, from 7 to 14, then from 14 to 28.

So while my results did make me go "humph," I won't panic. I will check with my oncologists at my next in-person check-in with The Ottawa Hospital's Gynecologic Oncology team on May 12.
