[2023-04-30] Adversity advantage
When you are facing adversity, it is easy to believe that you've never faced anything as daunting as this before. It's easy to fear not only the road ahead but your ability to navigate the road ahead.
But what if you remembered the challenges you have previously encountered and conquered? Would that increase your self-trust? Would it bolster your belief that you can meet this latest challenge?
As you recall your past, remember that you have survived 100% of your toughest days.
As you reflect on your present, consider this: "Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart."
And as you contemplate a future when you have traveled the road that stretches out before you, you might discover something good that came of all of this. As Michelle Obama said, "your experience facing and overcoming adversity is actually one of your biggest advantages."
Take counsel from those who have traveled this road before you, solace from those traveling the same path as you now, and comfort that you may one day use your experience to help someone else. Think of it as an adversity advantage.
