[2023-07-26] Great blue heron and recovery day 19

Though I didn't have a tonne of energy today, I managed to get out for a bird walk around Rice Lake and a dog walk around Bruce Pit. Our excursion to Rice Lake was rewarded with a brief sighting of the elusive Virginia Rail, hopping among the reeds, as well as a sighting of a Great Blue Heron, gliding majestically in the air. The identity of both birds was confirmed by three experienced birders who were on the spot with us.

My early morning energy—as little as it was—gave way to a listless afternoon. It reminded me of my pyjamas days after chemotherapy.

So tonight's post is short and sweet. I'm hoping for better days ahead, especially after the removal of my second drain tomorrow. One more sleep.
