[2024-06-28] A stroll at Andrew Haydon Park

A walk along the Ottawa River at Andrew Haydon Park was a perfect way to spend a Friday afternoon. The warm sun, brisk breeze and sparkling water made the stroll pleasant and peaceful.

Chris loves the goslings and likes to admire the geese from afar. I love the landscape but, even more, the people: the man mowing the grass, creating that pleasant scent of freshly mown lawn, the two older women sitting in chairs close to the water from which they were engaged in conversation; the man sitting on a park bench petting his dog; the family barbequing hotdogs on a grill; the mother whose mom was gently rocking a stroller in which a beautiful baby lay sleeping; the group of elderly folks sitting at a long table made up of several picnic tables placed end to end. I was especially drawn to that scene as a woman in the group was mixing a punch that looked delicious. I was hot and thirsty and would have enjoyed having a sip of her cocktail.

Chris and I most often walk at Bruce Pit and around Rice Lake, the pond adjacent to the Pit. But it was a nice change to move our daily constitutional to Andrew Haydon Park.
