[2024-07-30] Mango moment: watermelon edition
Today at the checkout of my local Farm Boy, I laid my three items on the belt then proceeded to the end of the counter to bag my groceries as the cashier rang them through.
But before the cashier could start processing my items, the next customer in line informed the cashier that he had a watermelon in his cart. The cashier appeared confused, looking at me and then back at the man.
— "Are you two together?" he asked.
— "No," I said with a laugh. "But I can pay for the watermelon."
The man was embarrassed, but also amused, realizing that he had gotten a little ahead of himself.
The cashier rang up my items, I tapped my card, and my fellow customer wished me a good day, as I did to him. It was a cute little mango moment, which is any encounter with a stranger that leaves me feeling happy, appreciated or entertained.
