[2024-08-28] Counting blessings
A friend stopped by today to drop off garlic. He had harvested some 150 bulbs from his garden and offered to share some with me, which was so kind of him. Not only that, he delivered them to my house.
As we chatted on my doorstep, he mentioned a story about a friend who had recently traveled to the United States. The friend shared the positive response he had experienced from border guards both en route to the US and upon his return to Canada. I loved that story and commented to my friend that we need to hear more anecdotes like this. And that seems to have been his friend's motivation: to put a positive message out to the world.
This was my first face-to-face meeting with my friend after having connected with him through Jenesis many months ago. He has been a frequent commenter on my blog posts, a repeated donor to my cancer fundraisers, and a source of good vibes.
If we look for our blessings, they are all around us: having coffee with a friend, accepting a thank you from a neighbour, receiving extraordinary assistance from a service provider, getting birthday wishes from family and friends, spending time with parents, siblings and children, finding a freshly baked dessert in your kitchen, courtesy of a loved one. And when we share our blessings, we remind others to count theirs as well.
