[2024-10-22] Early morning walk
Chris and I took an early morning walk along the Carp River, choosing this locale because access to Bruce Pit—our usual walking path—is currently restricted. It proved to be a peaceful setting.
At one point, our traipse took us along a road that was busy with rush hour traffic. I would have preferred to avoid the road but it was the quickest route from the path we had taken along the river to the path we wanted to take to continue our wander through Walter Baker Park. So, we scrambled along the road's gravel shoulder and quickly regained the serenity of the park. We were rewarded with the view of many trees in their colourful fall dress.
Back at home, I chatted with a woman from the United Kingdom about my cancer journey. Recounting my numerous health tribulations and triumphs felt a bit like describing a trek—with ups and downs, highs and lows, twists and turns. But like any adventure, I just kept putting one foot in front of the other. Some days were cloudy and cold; others were sunny and warm. But no matter what was happening and where I found myself, there was always something beautiful to behold—much like today on our early morning walk.
