[2024-11-21] CT scan results

Ever since my CT scan on Monday, I've been checking MyChart to see whether my results had arrived. Knowing that my meeting with Dr. Faught—one of the gynecologic oncologists at The Ottawa Hospital's Cancer Centre—was scheduled for tomorrow, I was especially anxious today. I worried about the usefulness of meeting with Dr. Faught if the results of the CT scan were delayed.

However, just as I was checking MyChart this afternoon, I received a notification with the subject line: "MyChart: You have a new test result." I quickly accessed the app and opened the report.

There, on the first line of the report of the scan of my abdomen and pelvis, were these words:
— "No recurrent or metastatic disease in the abdomen or pelvis."
A second report pertaining to the scan of my chest opened with these words:
— "No thoracic malignancy."
For every part of my torso, from my shoulders to below my rear, the two notes read like a report card of straight As, using words such as "no suspicious lesions," "no important abnormality" and "no nodule or density to suspect malignancy."

Beyond the reassuring information pertaining to my ovarian cancer, I got good news in relation to my perianal skin cancer. I was comforted by these words on my gastrointestinal tract: "No gross residual or recurrent tumor of the anal canal." Even my gallbladder got a solid grade: "Small stones are noted in an otherwise unremarkable gallbladder."

So, we move on to tomorrow's meeting with Dr. Faught, with confirmation that my low and steady CA125 results reflect what looks to me to be a very positive CT scan.
